Katy Williams

Katy Williams Design

Katy Williams is a Colorado based puppeteer, fabricator, and the owner of Katy Williams Design. Katy loves all puppetry, and specializes in life like large scale creatures, suitcase crankies, and front facing shadow puppetry. Her mission is to spread the joy and accessibility of puppetry in the Rocky Mountains, and she has been extremely influential in implementing puppetry in theatres all over Colorado. Katy is responsible for starting the Rocky Mountain Puppet Slam in March 2018, successfully producing three slams a year. Through the slam Katy has helped cultivate a strong and budding community of Colorado puppeteers. She recently produced and acted as Festival Director for a new Children’s festival, Puppet Palooza. Recently Katy created a new guild, The Rocky Mountain Puppetry Guild, which is already gaining traction and tons of support from the community. She serves as President of the guild and has big plans for the future, including a regional festival! Katy also proudly serves as a board member for the National Organization Puppeteers of America. In 2018, she mounted an original large-scale puppet show called The Myth of Pegasus, which featured larger than life creatures and shadow puppetry. Katy’s life size, 7 ft long, two puppeteer Pegasus puppet (her first and most beloved creation) represents her brand and has been entertaining children and adults alike since 2014. In 2019 at the National Festival Katy led the successful Viewpoints Movement Through Puppetry workshop and performed her suitcase crankie, “Jack and the Apocalyptic Moon Journey”, for Fringe. She also appeared in the 2019 National Puppet Slam. Katy has been published and featured in many local news sources such as The Denver Center, Westword Magazine, 5280 Magazine, John Moore Theatre Critic, and others.
