Blue Silk

Blue Silk began as an artist residency at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS). Cinco Palcensia envisioned a show featuring haunting puppetry and music to narrate the story of drug abuse. After recently losing his cousin to an overdose, Cinco created Blue Silk. Katy was brought on early in the residency as a puppet consultant, providing direction, education, and insight into the puppet elements of the storytelling.

In September 2024, Blue Silk traveled to Philadelphia for the Philadelphia Fringe Festival. It was a fully realized production with a team of young, talented designers and theater makers.

Audiences were in awe, as the show possessed an uncanny and exhilarating ability to transport them to another world for 45 minutes.

The two puppets were brought to life by three actors from Pig Iron.

In 2025 Blue Silk had another residency in Colorado Springs, followed by a Colorado Premier at the Denver Fringe Festival. Katy stepped into the role of Lead Puppeteer.

In September of 2025 the team took Blue Silk back to Philly for a week long residency with the MAAS Building. Katy reprised her role as Lead Puppeteer, Puppet Director, and Set Designer and Fabricator.

There are plans to produce an immersive version of the show in 2026.
