Body of Work

In May 2021, dancer/choreographer Katie Weigman and muralist Markus Puskar teamed up with Katy to create the interdisciplinary piece, "Body of Work". Katie choreographed the piece for a trio of dancers, and as the dancers performed, Katy moved with them, lighting their silhouettes and activating their shadows. Markus captured their silhouettes in real time by painting their shadows on the wall. The performance was 20 minutes long, and over the next three days, Markus and Katie completed the mural. The piece represented the journey of life and the stages we all experience, from birth to death.

The final product was a breathtaking mural that felt full of movement and inspiration.

This piece was commissioned and supported by Downtown Colorado Springs, Arts on the Streets program.
